Issue
A message saying "This resource cannot be deleted as it is referenced in other resources!" appears when trying to delete a resource from SchoolMind.
Cause
As the message indicates, there are other resources (data) that are linked to the resource you are trying to delete. Therefore it is not possible to delete it until you delete the data linked to that resource. Depending on what's the resource you're trying to delete, the linked data can be student marks, attendance records, subjects, etc.
Solution
You can resolve this by deleting the data linked to the resource you are trying to remove. For the majority of things, SchoolMind provides the user with a list of things which are linked to the resource and need to be deleted. For example, when trying to delete resources from the Institution module such as class, term, etc, a user will be presented with a list of linked resources which he needs to be deleted. When there is an ability to transfer the records to another target, the user will be presented with that option.
Example 1: Removing a class
The list of resources that need to be deleted is shown in the list so the user can use it as a reference. Only after deleting those records, a user can delete a class.
Example 2: Removing a term
For certain resources, there is an ability to transfer the records to another target instead of deleting them. SchoolMind will give the user an option to select to which target the records can be transferred when there is an ability for that.
If you still can't remove the resource after deleting the linked data, open a ticket on our support portal by sending an email to support@schoolmind.com or opening a ticket on our help desk by clicking here.
